Profile
Looi Soo Vern, also known as Jovelle graduated with an LL.B (Hons) Degree from Cardiff University in 2018. She completed her Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC) from City Law School, London in 2020. In the same yearm she was admitted as a Barrister-at-Law, England and Wales in 2020. She is also a member of the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn, UK.
Jovelle then commenced her pupillage with Messrs. Gary Lee & Partners (“GLP”) and was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor at the High Court of Malaya in 2021. She continued to practice as a legal associate at GLP, handling general litigation matters such as debt recovery, enforcement of judgment, landlord and tenant disputes and government land related disputes.
During her 2.5 years in GLP, she gained experience in conveyancing matters such as sale and purchase of residential, commercial and auction properties and preparation of loan documents. Additionally, she also handled commercial matters, including drafting tenancy and referral agreements, as well as probate and administration of estate matters.
In 2023, Jovelle sought to broaden her legal practice and joined Messrs. Alvin Chang Chambers as a legal associate. Here, she worked on general and banking litigation, as well as non-contentious family matters. She also had the experience of applying for citizenship for stateless children in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.
Jovelle then joined Messrs. Shahir Khubayb & Co. in 2024, where she is currently part of the litigation team. She assists in drafting and handling corporate litigation-related disputes.
